Cheat codes are hidden strings the old hackers of Ocean View left behind in the city's systems. NEXUS doesn't know about all of them, so some holes are still open — but each one works only once per player.
What a cheat code gives you
- +1000 XP — for any activated code, whatever it does. That's often enough to take a level on the spot.
- The main reward depends on the code itself: some credit TecktoCoins to your balance, others switch on an effect — for example, changing how the terminal behaves while mining.
- Once per player. Entering it again returns "code already used" and grants nothing. An activation can't be traded or passed on.
- A code can be switched off: once the hole is patched it stops working entirely and looks like any other wrong input.
How to enter cheat codes
There is no separate "cheat code window" in the game. Every code is entered where it lives, and the shape of the code tells you where: digits are dialled on the phone, letters are typed on the terminal.
1. Phone — the dial pad
- You need a smartphone from the shop — without it there's no phone icon in the menu.
- Open the Calls app, dial the code instead of a number and press call. Digits are accepted, as well as
* and #.
- Calling a real player's number always returns "busy". If you get "cheat code activated" instead of "busy", the input was right and the reward is already on your balance.
- Player numbers use the
NXX-NXX-XXXX format, so a cheat code can easily look like an ordinary phone number. You don't have to type the dashes — the phone strips them anyway.
- Every attempt lands in your call history, so blind guessing leaves a trail.
2. Terminal — just while you type
- Keyboard codes are not entered separately: you type them at work, in between lines of code, and there's nothing to confirm.
- The terminal keeps your last keystrokes in memory and checks them several times a second. As soon as what you typed ends with a cheat phrase, an activation message pops up.
- Case doesn't matter. Anything typed before the phrase is harmless — what matters is that the phrase comes last and unbroken. Slip in the middle and you just type it again from the start.
- The minimum length of such a phrase is 5 characters. It works both from the terminal's on-screen keyboard and from a physical one.
- The phrase is typed with your own keystrokes, so it burns energy exactly like normal mining.
Where the codes come from
Codes are never published in the interface — the city hands them over. The main source is a handwritten letter from a hacker who left Ocean View: one of the NPCs keeps it, and it can be traded for. You can only read it from your inventory and only while you still hold it — sell it or give it away and the list is gone. The letter shows every active code, with the ones you've already used struck through.
The rest of the hints travel through chats, quests and conversations with NPCs.
Hints for the existing cheat codes
What's collected here are hints, not ready-made strings. You'll have to put the code together yourself.
- The terminal phrase. It has been said before — in another city: palm trees, neon, the eighties. A newly arrived gangster walks into his lawyer's office for the first time, the lawyer babbles nervously, and the third thing he hears from his guest is three short orders in a row. Type them one after another, with no spaces and no punctuation. The reward: the terminal starts typing for you.
- The phone number. It isn't anyone's in-game number — it's the city administrator's home phone. Nobody even hid it, people just don't read: the number sits in open sources, you only have to look. Dial it and your balance is 10,000 T heavier.
